Excavator Operator (Full-Time)

B & M O’Brien Brothers Ltd are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our growing civil engineering and groundworks team. The successful candidate will operate plant machinery across a variety of construction and agricultural projects throughout West Cork.

Duties

• Operation of 360° tracked and rubber-tyred excavators on live construction sites
• Excavation, bulk earthworks, and grading to engineer’s levels and tolerances
• Trenching for main drainage, ducting, and service installations
• Backfilling, compaction, and reinstatement of excavated areas
• Loading and spotting dump trucks and artics on site
• Carrying out daily pre-start checks (walk-around inspections) on all assigned plant
• Adhering to site-specific method statements and risk assessments (RAMS)
• Working safely in proximity to underground services and existing structures
• Liaising with site foremen, engineers, and subcontractors on daily tasks
• Maintaining plant in clean and serviceable condition

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ proven experience operating excavators in a civil engineering or groundworks environment
• CSCS / Safe Pass card required
• Experience with GPS machine control and laser levels an advantage
• Ability to read and interpret site drawings and setting-out plans
• Knowledge of drainage systems, soakpits, and attenuation works preferable
• Full clean driving licence required; HGV licence an advantage
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship

Working Hours

Full-time, Monday to Friday. Overtime available subject to site programme requirements.
